India that is Bharat is a civilization of thousands of years which initially had many kingdoms but after independence from European rule is one country under a national flag. Its people still carry with them the ancient culture and wisdom but in spite of self rule and a constitution , life is far from comfortable for the common man. Generation after generation is trying to fulfill its aspirations but each generation is finding itself at the same crossroads . The basics of life like education ,employment, healthcare still are herculean tasks. The people in a single civilisation unit be a village or city, are not reasonably satisfied and happy.
The bottlenecks are causing the exodus of brilliant people from India. While pondering over possible solutions to the various impediments to a happy country and a decent life I came across a few issues that are detrimental to the recipe for a happy country.
The first and primary impediment is The Reservation of Election Symbols (by Symbols Order), which gives advantage to candidates contesting elections on these symbols The anti defection law mentioned in the second chapter is a shift towards partycracy (The will of the party) in the guise of prevention of political corruption.Under the shadow of the symbols order the elections to the Rajya Sabha (having equal footing as Lok Sabha in passage of bills, except money bills) are held with only legislators as voters. The Rajya Sabha also known as ‘The Council Of States’ has in fact party representatives as representatives of states.
Now , how democratic are the practices above!
Then there is also the issue of compulsory contribution to the Employees Provident Fund. What is interesting is that the people get carried away by the packaging and accept the legislations as the only recourse without examining its pathos and helplessly suffers the consequence. Some such legislations are
- 1.The Symbols order
- 2.Anti Defection Law-The Tenth Schedule of The Constitution
- 3.The Employees Provident Fund Scheme which facilitates easy money to the Government of India by compulsory contributions from employees of establishments.
The issue of voters age , civil services, the impediments to smooth business, roads, high capacity two wheelers and an approach to healthcare is also discussed besides the educational sector.
